8:00 – 8:50 Oh S**T, I Just Got Hit – Michael Schreck, PSIG Inc. – Any hazardous chemical used in a facility can cause catastrophic af- fects on the human body. Do you know where to go, what to do; and who to notify?

8:50 – 9:40 Recognizing Untapped Workforce Resources – Lois Stirewalt – This discussion includes Ms. Stirewalt’s vision to encourage Veterans, women, and young people to become apart of our great industry; bringing with them their unique talents and abilities.

9:40 – 10:05 Break – Visit the vendor and raffle tables and enjoy coffee and other refreshments.

10:10 – 11:00 DHS – Self-Rescue – Gary Smith, ASTI – This presentation covers the pros and cons of various types of respiratory protection available today, the use of EEBA’s, and their potential to assist in escaping from hazardous environments.

11:00 – 11:55 Help! I need Somebody – The PSM Edition – Alan Gervais, Western Precooling –This discussion will cover how one safety professional started with no background in regulatory compliance, got up to speed, and the resources he found along the way.

Workshop B Focus on Operators – Hand’s On

10:10 – 11:00 Hands-On Demonstration – Gordon Brandt, Cal CA Various demonstrations of the latest valve technology being utilized in our industry today.

11:05 – 11:55 Oil Draining – TBD, APCCO – A representative from Applied Process Cooling Company will provide an Oil Draining demonstration to show proper procedure for the task.

Workshop C – Focus on Technical

10:10 – 11:00 Ventilation/Vapor Barriers – Dave DeHart & Brian Campbell – Proper ventilation can be the difference between a minor upset and an emergency. This discussion will cover basic ventilation requirements and an overview of adequate insulation to prevent hazardous releases.

11:05 – 11:55 Training for Contractors & Temporary Employees – Gary Elk, Western Precooling – This discussion will cover training requirements for contractors and season employees; clarifying management obligations to ensure employees and contractors have access to critical information prior to starting work at your facility.

Workshop D – Focus on Spanish Speaking Operators

Afternoon Sessions in the Main Auditorium

1:00 – 2:00 Critical Emergency Preparedness – Jeanna Emmons, PSM RMP Solutions – Good emergency training is still key to minimizing loss and injury during a chemical release. This discussion will cover insights to promote relevant training to enhance safety culture within your company.

2:00 – 2:20 Break – Visit the vendor and raffle tables.

2:20 – 3:20 US EPA Chemical Accident Prevention – Greg Bazley & Kay Lawrence, EPA Region 9 – A representative with the US EPA will provide insights into the current regulatory issues and environment for Region 9. Topics may include General Duty Clause, common deficiencies, dynamic regulatory requirements, and the National Compliance Initiative.

3:20 Final Raffle and Grand Prize – Certificates will be handed out in exchange for evaluation forms as you exit the venue at the front of the building.

PDH (Professional Development Hours) towards your RETA recertification are available with your certificate of attendance. REHS credits will also be available for those that qualify.
